hitchhiking life- brasil

Last year today i was hitchhiking in Brasil

I and the driver in the truck.
he told me "I had never been to a plane. Even 5000 km i will drive a week."

I replied"you should try it once, it is very convenient ."

he said "No I dont want. I am scared of the plane. There was so many plane accidants on the TV. "

I feel very sad when i heard it . For people who had never see the beauty of the world .

Maybe you said I am subjective, maybe he like his present life.

You cannot know if the fish is happy inside the swimming pool.
You think the fish is sadly trapped in a pond, yet maybe it is relaxing ,swimming joyfully.

No matter what you do , as long as you are comfortable about it.

My first time reaching amazon was in Rurrenabaque, Bolivia.
I got a place to stay from my couchsurfing host in Trinidad, Bolivia.

When I first arrive, there was so many mosquitos.
I started to scratch my legs. They saw this , they gave me the mosquito repellent.
I put it on , then the mosquitoes started to bite my host family.

I asked  "where I can take shower? "
He brought me to where the bathroon.
I asked"Where is the door?"
"There is no door, that is why is is so far from the house. " He replied.


I was quite scared. I asked"Where is the hot water botton. "
"There is no hot water." He replied.

Then I was showering there. Luckily I asked in the morning.
There was sunlight and I can see if anybody is around.
Sometimes I heard the sounds of vehicles. Because the house was next to the main road.

I was scared the cold water will bring me a cold. But I find it quite refreshing.
I ended up showering twice/day. Because you will sweat even you did not do anything .lol

One day , I visited their neightbor.
Their shower equipment is in the front garden.
I asked : "Where is the bathroom walls? "
The neighbor mum said "We don't need bathroom walls, there is nothing to hide in front of the nature."

My forehead started to sweat. Now I feel no problem for  a bathroom without a door.
Luckily I did not stay in their neighbors' house.

They are already the lucky group. Some people cannot afford to install shower equipment.
They can only take a bath near the river.

taking bus in Peru

I was sitting in a bus in Iquitos,peru. 

The lady with 2 children sat down.

how did they sat?

the lady sat down first. Then the younger boy sit down on her left thigh. The older 1 sit on her right thigh. Because they cannot afford 3 seats.

I was quite shock to see this. 

When the bus was running fast , the older boy will fell down. So he just stood up . 

I saw the mum was feeling heavy . I asked one of the boys.

"Do you want to sit here?" I put my hands on my thigh.

They sighed their heads. I thought they were too shy. 

At first , I thought it is a good way to save money. 

After that ,I feel very sad about the kids. 

Because you are too litttle, you do not deserve a seat.

Look at the present kids in Hong Kong. They have ipad and iphone to play games.

They received education from an international kindergarten , which cost the same as university annual fee.

When it is raining in Peru, people will take out the glass that placed below the window. 

The bus have many wooden boxes on each window seat . Inside the box , there are 1 piece of glass. That you can pull up when it is raining. I was astonished by it's design. I saw the other passengers pulled it up, meanwhile my piece of glass cannot be pulled up. Well , I could only open the umbrella to block the rains. 

I reckon this was a very unique experience. Peruvian have many creativity. Creativity generates when there is not much resources 

Maybe 50 years ago, Hong Kong people live the life like the present Peru. 

Travel make us travel in different generations . 

Travel make us a time traveler.

About hitchhiking a boat

I got a ship ride from Manuas , Brasil to Tabatinga , Brasil. This place is the border with 2 countries: Leticia, Colombia and Santa Rosa, Peru.

Originally I planed to leave when the ship arrive my destination. I ended up staying 2 weeks there.

The captain's attitude changed a lot.
The first he said:' welocmed to our boat!'
He also gave me a cabin room (camarote) as I got harassed by 1 of his cargo crew at midnight 1 time.

Afte a week, he started to complain. He said I always go out sightseeing without doing any helping work.
1 day, he said " If you clean the toilets of the whole boat , I will gave you 100 real(around
$25) "

My eyes started to sparkle.
I think : Why not? It is around a 2 hour work. For 25 dollar, it is a good deal.
At last it take me 3 hours to do it. a 3-storey  is about 8-9 toilet.
My clothes was all wet when I finished.
Actually I feel good, Now I know it is not easy about being a cargo ship crew.

After this , I went to the captain
"Where is my $25 ?"
He was laughing, the other crew laughed too.

I was shocked to see this.
But now I realized it is possible.
No worries, you do not have to reward me.
It is like a gift for you as hosting me for 2 weeks.

After that , I took another ship to Santa Rosa, Peru.
The day I left, he told me
"I feel so happy about your leaving. I hope not to see you again. "

The other crew and the cooking lady said to me "have a good trip."

I do not want to make up a story like everybody will welcome hitchhhiker.
But I do want to record the truth story.
Maybe the other locals think me in this way too, but they just did not express.
I would rather you being honest and not wasting time of anybody.

About losing phone

The 1st time I lost my phone. It is because I left it inside a restaurnat. It is my neglectful mistake. I cannot blame the people.

The 2nd, 3rd time. It is because the phones were too old. It cannot be used anymore.

The 4th time. It is because I got mugged by 2 men . It was in a public beach near the slum (favella).
I did not google what places was dangerous in Brasil , It was my mistake. Nobody should be blame.

The 5th time. My phone fell after the dog rushed and attacked to me. It tok me 50 dollars to repair it.
I hate dogs. If I saw that dog again, I want to report it to the environment department for human destruction.

People said "If you never got robbed , that means you did not travel long."

so here i am in the middle of the world. 

it is the most visited tourist attraction in ecuador. the main reason is it is where the earth start, 

latitude 00´´00´´. Then i checked wikipedia, they said the equator actually lies about 240 meters north of the marked line where i stand in picture 2.

it is loceted 26 km from the centre of quitos. And i lived in south , it took me 1.5 hours, where my friend drop me with her car. 

i paid 5 dollars for the entrance.

When i paid, my heart was ached. But when i left, i really think it worth the price.

After this 2 gringo checkpoints, i went to the monument in picture 1. They have mirador on top. Then 1 floor down, a  museum introducing the traditions and customes of every region in ecuador. When you further down 1 floor , there is another museum explain the astronomy , how is the earth rotate.... you can even know how much you weight in the moon, sun , north pole and the earth. Another floor down , it explains the science effect happen in the earth . for example, 2 water pipes change direction because it is rotating.This monument is a multiple museums of science, culture, physics and outlook tower, I reckon this is a very good idea. I spent 2 hours there .lol

After that i walked around the other museums, there are another 8 museums. planetary, museum of francia, museum of ecuador, museum of beer, museum of cacao, cultural centre (which introduce different geographic features of ecuador ), museum of virgen,museum of train.

i enjoyed the museums so much , and learn many interesting facts.
1. chocolate is the best anti age fruit in the world because it is rich inantioxidant power
2.eating chocolate will make people feel the same like felling in love, because it has a sudstance that release pleasure endorphins.
3.during the medieval era , beer was prescribed as amedicine . it is prescribed to cure flu, headache or muscle pain.
4. 1 day on Venus planet is longer than 1 year.
5.1 million of earth planet can fit inside the sun.
6. There is a diamond planet in our galaxy that is bigger than earth.
7. the footprints of astronants stepped on moon will not be disappeared. because moon does not have the same geographical surface like planet earth.
8. every years, the moon will be 3.8 cm further than earth planet.
9. Hong Kong is 17213,58 km from the equator.



I enjoyed a lot the museums and stayed a whole day there. In the ecuador museum, they sell electronic postcard app that you can buy in the museum .they also sell real rose that never died.well the technology in south america is not that old. i cannot believe i had been to the beginning of the earth ! i have to tell my mum about this .XD  i hope you will enjoy your visit there too!
